Apostle Arome Osayi is a servant of God with a strong burden: desire and commitment to seeing the church established by means of the present truth both within the church and in the marketplace. During one of His Sermons at the House of Salem Abuja, Apostle Arome gave a deep insight into the scrupture to reveal God’s Perspective on the most popular word in our churches today; Prosperity.
One of the Pressures we need to put on ourselves as Prophetic people is a Blazing commitment to HOLINESS. Even though Holiness is no longer emphasised in our time because we are on the fast lane…
For the past 20 years, that has not been an emphasis in the body of Christ, It’s about how much we can get, what we can make and so forth. This is because the Prosperity we were taught is materialistic in nature, and that’s the same kind of Prosperity that the Laodicean church had that Jesus had to come and rebuke them.
The Bible speaking about Joseph said, that he was in Prison but he prospered. We need to explain how a prisoner can Prosper if our concept of Prosperity is all together materialistic. He was in Prison and the Bible said he Prospered!
The Laodicean church said ”We have need for nothing” and that’s like how the Nigerian church is now, we’ve never been this wealthy since we started doing kingdom business; we have schools, we have hospitals, we have all kinds of stuffs, we run stuffs in billions and trillions now, we have never been this Prosperous. So, just like the Laodicean church said, we can boldly say that we have need for nothing. But when Jesus came with piercing eyes of discernment, he saw the true state of the Laodicean church and he reckoned it to be BLIND, POOR & NAKED.
What Jesus was trying to say to us was that, Prosperity as it is in the scriptures is not measured by material possessions. So, if we say that Joseph Prospered in Prison, it’s because Joseph lived in such a way that God could still identify with him. Now, if Prosperity for Joseph was something Material, he would have slept with Potiphar’s wife and she would have made BIG plans for him and his brethren would have died in the famine and the plans of God would have been thwarted and frustrated. BUT he, wanting to keep the Presence of God with him violated the presentation that was made by Potiphar’s wife because he preferred to have God with him instead of him to have the woman with him.
Now, the first manifestation of ‘God with him’ was that, instead of an execution, they put him in Prison. They were supposed to kill him, for an ordinary slave to attempt to rape his master’s wife, they should execute him. They threw him into Prison, that was the first miracle God did for him. The Prison experience was supposed to be the worst state of his life but the Bible says that God was with him. And in that Prison, we didn’t know that there were ranks and portfolios.
There were people whose burdens were lighter, some people can be sipping Yoghurt there, Joseph was in the class of those people that were sipping Yoghurt in the Prison, because God was with him. It means that, this kind of guy that God is with, even if you decide to punish him and do wickedness to him, there’s a way God manipulates that stuff and it doesn’t get to him in the quality of cruelty with which you did it to him. God just created His own atmosphere around him irrespective of the circumstance and situation. If you put a Natural man in that situation, he’ll break down, but if you put a real Christian there, he will PROSPER.
We saw the meaning of Prosperity under the worst conditions with Joseph, and it was still in that place that ‘God with him’ was still his ability to interpret dreams. ‘God with him’ was his reason for standing before the king of the world in those days. ‘God with him’ was the reason be became the second in command in the Government. We need to reteach that Prosperity message and bring balance because a lot of people have left God behind in search of Prosperity, and they called that Prosperity. Meanwhile that’s the pursuit of mammon and if you find it, it will possess your soul. Check yourself, check your life and analyse your walk with God and check if you’ve drifted from God in pursuit of things only God can give you all in the name of Prosperity. Repent!
